A.S.T.E.R.O.I.D and Atlantis
Now I’m writing in english. Why? I have to train myself in more than hearing english so i decided, that writing bad english is better than writing no english. But beware, only for the devparts of my blog.
As you know I’m studing 3D Programmierer at the german Games Academy in Berlin and my first and last project is done since 2-3 Month. It is a adoption from the original asteroid game and it is called A.S.T.E.R.O.I.D. You can find out more at ga.sicaine.net. The Projectpage itself is not finished yet but we don’t have much time atm because our new Projects have allready started.
My new Project is a 3D Game Engine called Atlantis. It is a 3 Semester(1,5 Year) Project together with a other student. The maingoal is not to reinvent something. It is just that i think, thats the best method for myself to become a good Gamedeveloper by spending 1,5 Year, beside the normal schoollessons, developing a crossplattform, streamingengine. Furthermore I love to develop such a abstract system that is capable to run on different plattforms and with different 3D Apis.

To train english skills, I found it useful to comment all my code with english sentences. Because I will read this code some weeks later and will find some mistakes in spelling and grammar almost automatically.
Maybe that would help you too.
I looked at the project page of Asteroids. Are there twins in the team? ^^
I was surprised by the dowload size. Why is it that big? And why seems the installer 22 MB big? Try NSIS for a compressed, free Installer.

Hey Thomas, tx for your advice.
The Installer is so big because A.S.T.E.R.O.I.D is rendering in 1600×1200 and we just scaling down or up(mostly down ;)). I should be able to reduce the size from the installer by removing a few Directx.cab’s but not enough time at the moment for playing around with this _old_ project. My Engine is not waiting(next milestone is in 2 Weeks).
Also i have a new team now so the other guys have other work to do as well so the website etc. have no high priority atm.(for the portfolio later again perhaps)
